Onboard Experience

Personal

Our wooden vessels are nicely appointed with hand-made benches and tables so you can relax in the company of your friends and family, enjoy cocktails or a meal, and see Portland’s best coastal sights. There’s plenty of space to move about, and the Captain stands at the helm just forward of this deck. You are welcome to hop up on “Frankie’s Seat” for a chat with your captain or try your hand at the wheel.

Authentic

You won’t find a more authentic way to experience Maine’s coastal beauty. Our vessels were built on the Maine Coast for the very waters on which they still cruise. MONHEGAN has over 50 years of cruising Maine’s coast, and MARIE L marked her 70th birthday in 2020! Sure, we’ve added some comforts here and there, but these vessels still possess their incredible mystique, and you can’t help but fall in love at first sight.

Amenities

Our charter fleet boasts the most comfortable small group charter vessels in Portland. They are big and heavy, meaning they’re very stable. Our seating areas are covered by enclosures with retractable side curtains to ensure shade on hot sunny days and protection from cool or wet weather if needed. And, of course, MONHEGAN and MARIE L have environmentally friendly marine heads (toilets) in a compartment down below. Also down below is a small cabin with storage. It’s the perfect place to change clothes or just admire the skill and craftsmanship that went into these boats’ construction.

We can provide food on most charters, and there’s even a Chef on board with our Sunset Dinner Charter, or you can bring your own food. Bottled water is ready at hand, and local beers and imported wines are available on board for purchase. Guests are not permitted to bring their own alcoholic beverages due to state liquor laws. A cooler with ice is provided, and MONHEGAN is nicely stocked with glassware, plates, and serving utensils.

Accessibility

We can accommodate passengers of all ages and abilities. Our own kids have been enjoying cruises on board since they were born. We know the cabins work well for breastfeeding if needed. Our shorter cruises are great for infants and toddlers. Life jackets are required for kids 10 and under, and we have lots on board.

For those with limited mobility, our docks are wheelchair accessible (but please check with us about the tides as the ramps can be steep at low tide). Wheelchairs cannot directly roll onto our vessels, but our crew is expert at helping guests transfer onto the boat, and wheelchairs are welcome aboard. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions about our accessibility.

We also welcome dogs on board, but please make certain your dog will enjoy being on a boat before you decide to bring him or her along.
